Maybe
If you ever wondered who I wasI can be a mystery of sorts
A mom, a daughter, a friend
Someone other than what most see
I cannot imagine the visions that run through your mind
I’m somewhat of a sinner and a saint
Maybe a poet who can no longer write
Just one of the masses, lingering on
A burden or a blessing, time hasn’t revealed
For my shadows have not yet hindered your sight
Maybe I’m your saving grace
Maybe, you are mine
I may be your distraction
Someone you needed in your heart
Maybe I am your strength
Something to fight for when there’s nothing left
Maybe I am just passing through
A burst of sunshine to light your way
Or I could by chance, be something that grounds you
When there’s no footing to be found
You could ask me a million times who I was
And every answer would change
I’m part of what I hoped, and part of what I feared
I’m a mix of life and loss
I’m just another person
Trying to find their way
A bit uncertain
But still holding on
Maybe it’s me who has wondered who I was
Confused and scared, I hid away
It’s better to be guarded in this life
So I used to think
But funny thing about life
It takes unexpected turns
Destinations of unexpected places
Journey’s welcoming arms
I guess I’ve always wondered who I was
A combination of all else
I’m just another person
Trying to fit into the bigger picture
But today I realized that I am more
I am someone who wants to become
Someone who wants to feel, to touch, to believe
To become better than I was before
You speak few words
But they challenge me
Yours is a quite gentle inspiration
Enduring awesome strength
You have made me wonder who I am
And I am starting to like what I see
A d reamer, a hoper, a romantic
I’m someone other than what most see
