My New Man

My New Man

A friend of mine invited me to church, time and time again
Finally...one day I accepted her invitation, I guess I got tired of playin
Little did I know up her sleeve she had a plan
Not only was I touched and moved, I was introduced to a wonderful man
From that day forward I would talk to him each and every day
He would help me solve my problems by telling me just what to say
Since the day I met him, my children and I always have food to eat
Whether I personally invite him to my table or not, he always has a seat
Without fail, each and every month all my bills are paid
Depend on him, you'd better believe it, I know when I've got it made
Every now and then I speak with my friend, she asks how we are
I always say fine, and I'm glad he's mine I'm so grateful he's never very far
She said I'm glad he is there for you at your each and every whim
I know he loves you but what do you do for him?
Her question caused me to see, just how selfish I had been
My new man was no where's near being treated like my next of kin
I re-evaluated my position I got down on my knees
I begged for his forgiveness I prayed that he heard my pleas
To my delight he forgave me for all the wrongs I'd done
I always knew right from wrong but to sin was a lot more fun
Oh! I almost forgot to mention---his name
The one who always please us
The love of my life---my everything
Is who else? God's son JESUS!!!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
