Nedjes's last words
In Old Egypt when the Pharoahs reigned supreme,
There lived a poor couple Ptahhotep and Nedjem.
Ptahhotep worked on the pyramid of Giza,
He was a very respected Architect.
Nedjem was a good mother and was overjoyed
When she gave birth to a little girl Nedjes.
“Nedjes means sweet and I will sing to you every day,
So you will be a sweet girl in every way.”
Nedjes grew up in a house of light,
One day she became interested in a boy in the village.
She was painfully shy and so felt invisible to him.
His name was AaH which is the name for the Moon.
He was a very handsome boy with many girlfriends.
Nedjes danced and sang when she was by herself,
But would become too shy to talk when she saw Aah.
When she found out he was betting married she was devastated.
One night Nedjes went to a lonely part of the woods and piles
Sticks to make a fire.
As the flames rose higher and higher she walked into the fire.
Just before she dies she screamed:
“How does the invisible girl get seen but by the light
of the invisible fire.”
