Biography

Hello, everyone!! My name is Donna, I am 56 years old, born June 6, 1952 in Boston. I am not working full time at present; doing some babysitting and some tutoring in English. Trying to get back into the work force as I took the last three years off to straighten out personal and family problems.

I graduated from Emerson College in Boston, MA in June 1974 (yes, I'm old as the dinosaurs!! LOL) I got my B.A. in English Literature and feel as though I have spent half my life either writing, reading or both. I have been published (poetry) in several anthologies, and have my own book of poetry which I published in 2006, titled THE DARKNESS WILL HIDE ME. It is available on amazon.com if anyone wants to see or buy it - ha ha - good Christmas present, only 6.99!! The book is very dark because my father was dying of lung cancer at the time, and it is still hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that I will never see him again....unless we do meet in an afterlife, which I hope is true!

I have one sister, Sandra, a breast cancer survivor and quite a spitfire, an energetic woman who is the Academic Dean of a small college. Thank God I still have my Mom; she is the kindest and sweetest woman, much as my father was the kindest and sweetest man. It is hard to see her making her way as a widow. It always looks to me as if something has been amputated.

Meanwhile, I am divorced twice, no children, and dating a new man now. Will he be husband Number Three? That remains to be seen. I have dated many men since leaving my second husband and have finally met this man, and we click, but you never know. I try not to be too eager so that I won't be disappointed. I believe Alexander Pope said something like that.

I am happy that one of my dear friends, Paul, turned me on to this site. Hope to make some writing friends here!!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
