The Embrace

The Embrace

I meant to kiss you like a reflex.

To be in your arms so long,

Fingertips memorize contours through wool,

Consumed in the moment.

Inhale, breathe deep, remember this.

Things are different now

After that embrace.

This love is encoded like DNA -

In the air and around me,

An aura all about me,

Solid as the ground you walk upon.
