Rigid Winter

Poem Commentary

I have had a few winters of discontent to say the least

Rigid Winter

trees reaching for the sky like the gnarling hands of death
and I am feeled with cold hard dread with every single breath
the wind cries with the moaning souls of those who call my name
and I pray they'll fade away in the sounds of pouring rain
darkness falls and memory calls--faces I have known
rigid winter cold December I am all alone

You sound so wistful..... good read however. Your similies are a bit dark but that is how winter effects alot of poets.

Yes I actually have one called seasonal depression, but I also write my best stuff in winter

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
