    Road to Recovery

    I want it now
    can't wait for tomorrow
    a life of joyful happiness
    not one of remorseful sorrow
How could I have taken so much
    and then sped off
with the shift of my clutch
    When all they have done
    is been there to share
    gave me their love
    and told me they care
    My mind turns and spins
as I stand to look at myself
    see all my many sins
due to my poorness with wealth
    I feel so ashamed
and can't find the reason why I'm here
    There are no excuses
    just me to be blamed
    Going head-on with my responsibility
    I'm finding the many ways
    to bring about future changes
    Newer, brighter, fresher days

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
