RODEO

Rodeo clowns and bucking broncs
Bull riders ad buckle bunnies
Roaring fans and tense cowboys
Hot dogs and sweaty bulls

This all part of the tradition
This is what makes the songs
From Chris Ledoux to George Strait
From Cowboy up to Bareback Jack

Like apple pie and the 4th of July
The rodeo is part of America
From bikers to doctors
To lawyers and soldiers

They all gather on occasion
To watch the bulls buck
The girls turn the barrels
And always thos cowboys give it their all

A short, simple piece only beginning to touch the full depth of the excitement and all the surroundings, trappings of what is an American classic. Nice write, k

I was part of the Wild Bill Hickok's Wild West Show...of course I always rooted for the wild Indians. I can relate to this poem, and that's no bull.

With wonderful wording and great imagery you have created a very memorable poem and a great tribute to the rodeo and all of its stars.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
