Senseless Love
If I were gifted solely with my sight,
your features would inspire such desire
you would appear as though a boundless light
were setting my frozen solitude afire.
Or if I had no sense except to hear,
my ear would prize the music in your voice;
whose charm enchants my heart and grants such cheer
that, listening, I'd revel and rejoice.
If I should lack all senses barring touch,
caressing you would flood me with great need.
Or if the sense of smell were my nonesuch
your body's balm would be my only creed.
But what a banquet to taste you'd be!
The other senses pale in jealousy.
your features would inspire such desire
you would appear as though a boundless light
were setting my frozen solitude afire.
Or if I had no sense except to hear,
my ear would prize the music in your voice;
whose charm enchants my heart and grants such cheer
that, listening, I'd revel and rejoice.
If I should lack all senses barring touch,
caressing you would flood me with great need.
Or if the sense of smell were my nonesuch
your body's balm would be my only creed.
But what a banquet to taste you'd be!
The other senses pale in jealousy.
