Shell of Youth - Yolk the Butterfly

Fragile at birth, encased in mother's cocoon.
The doctor would cut away the husk,
and replace it with a balloon.
Childhood day is over and approaches adult dusk.

Lost and unaware of the right way,
follow the ballon and don't sing
    your own song instead stay
with your balloon, your shell, and fling
    the future out the window.

In school it only gets worse.
Begin to realize the sting of wounds is salt.
School is over and life is in reverse,
    the balloon is stretched taut.

It pops and still young in mind you must fend
for yourself until the bitter end.

Indestructible at death, bereft of father's nest.
The patient didn't mend close to the flesh,
    but left it without helium.
Adult night was beginning and disappears child's dawn.

Found and aware of the wrong path,
    lose the helium and scream
    my lament, leave
my helium, my yolk and clutch
    the past inside.
Out of life it was better,
end to forget the caress of scars and sugar.
Life was beginning and school was fast forward,
    the helium was relaxed mush.

It inflates, and not old in body I can't abandon
    myself after the sweet beginning.
