    snake pit 3

    slithering, slimy beguiling witches
and warlocks that curse like bitches
forked tongues as strong as weaponry
    venoms as potent as sorcery
    hercules' might and ulysses' wit
would they stand a chance in this pit?

    smash them to smithereens
    these untrustworthy slithereens

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
