Spelling Gets an "A"
I feel alone and hurt inside,
As a parent, I can't help but push.
How I wish for him to take pride.
The reaction, as I'm flooded, with a powerful whoosh!
It takes me for a loop.
We work on spelling,
As I begin to make him stoop.
Then he starts bellowing.
The target is good grades.
I want him to have what he wants,
My patients and friendship fades.
Poor boy, he's far, from being a dunce.
I corral him from his childs play.
Testing, spelling keeping in mind the time.
I view his young spirit fade away.
How can he learn this list of ten all in a line?
We split the words.
Make them scrambled and written many times
We chant the words.
Even, trying many kinds of rhymes.
A word is missed, my face is red.
We try over again and again.
Enough, for now, it's time for bed.
I love him, he's my friend
Today's the day the test is here.
The words, in his head are found.
Spelling the words, not as bad, as feared;
As the correct word is jotted down.
As a parent, I can't help but push.
How I wish for him to take pride.
The reaction, as I'm flooded, with a powerful whoosh!
It takes me for a loop.
We work on spelling,
As I begin to make him stoop.
