Stolen Voices

I’m all alone, there’s no one here but me.
My problems have all but gone,
And no I’m the only one.
No one to hear my screams of pain.
No one to hear me cry.
The devil has stolen voices,
And now he has mine.
I’m all alone, there’s no one here but me.
My problems have all but gone,
And I’m the only one.
No one to hear my screams of pain.
No one to hear me cry.
The devil has many stolen voices,
And now he has mine.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
