Strength in Unity
The whole reason I started writing my rhymesWas for someone going through a hard time
Although my poetry may help me
I write for others so they can see
That things get better as we go on
To not give up and remain strong
For anyone going through a trial
Saying it will get better after while
I write for the boy who appears just fine
While he daily contemplates suicide
For the girl who appears to always have a smile on
While she desperately hides the scars on her arm
I’m one of the many voices of a generation
That is crying out in sheer desperation
Saying Help Us, it’s worse now more than ever
The only way we’ll survive is to stand together
It doesn’t matter if you’re white or black
It doesn’t matter if you’re skinny or fat
Because all of us go through hard times
Where it seems like the sun refuses to shine
You may be going through a trial right now
Something that no one else knows about
Take my hand and follow me through this mess
As I try to lead you out of the ever-growing darkness
I’m sending out a call to all who will respond
To never give in to desperation and remain strong
We’ll walk together, give each other strength
As we continue to press on day after day
It may be hard, but we must see
That there is great strength in unity
