The Beginning of the End

The Beginning of the End

Loving to live
Living to love
Becoming the crow
Killing the dove
Idol hooks tearing skin
Breaking bones, setting fire to your kin
Teary eyes, a baby cries
A young boy smiles, a mother dies
Being sane is highly overrated
The dead and the living have been desicrated
The blood of the innocent is in your hands
Repent now or forever be damned
Everyone is staring at you
There is nothing you can say or do
Sunsets on the glistening water, living life, the world grows hotter
Clean the pipes of your soiled tears, just to see your lifelong fears
Worry not now my friend, this is just the beginning of the end.

Thank you!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
