The City

Cityscape high expectations beat her cruelly
She can't see the sun or the level gray
Only the red that became her life so long ago is available to her now

Red blood, red anger
Red eyes glaring in the night
Vampire bites on her lips
Only kisses in her dreams

Haunted by everything that never will be
the broken dreams and promises
gouging her eyes out

Wounds have dust on them
Leaving her to dream
Safe movie fragments of rainbow ends
Dangerous afternoon swamped in audacity

Was there a day when it could have been

The more poems I reda, the more I am amazed at the talent out here, I really enjoyed this, and the sarcasm of the picture, I hope you find your dream, if only in your poems...

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
