The dog

The dog sits there in the boys yard,
he waits for the dog to come,
yet every time he approaches
the dog dissapers,
his mother watches with a heavy heart
for she knows there is no dog,
she wishes he would understand
that he's just thinking its there,
so there sits the boy in his corrner,
huddled in a ball,
saying that the dog waits for him,
out the window,
in the yard
