The Enemy

The Enemy

It is I who is my enemy

Who fought the battle against me;

Took all my strength and put me on my knees

And summons me to surrender against my wish.

It is I who fought my ego without respect

With more resistance than I expect;

Push all my dreams and all my hopes,

Pinning all my chances against the rope.

No one but I who ruined all that chances,

Fooled by greed and deceiving hunches;

Drunk by sins of pleasure,

And buried myself without a future.

Yes, I who conquered myself

I that is to blame myself,

And I and only I who conquered me!

I…the only enemy!

"We have perceived the enemy, and he is us!" We've all been there, J. the question is: What's next? Great stuff!

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
