    The Ghost

I've lived all of these years.

Hiding from all of my fears.

All the tears that I've cried.

All the dreams that have died.

    Always seeing the Ghost.

    That unbidden comes the most.

Of someone who was never there.

Someone who never had a care.

    For a young child's soul.

Who never knew about the hole.

    One that I'll always see.

Whenever I look inside of me.

Now I'll live forever with my tears.

And I'll live forever with my fears.

That one day I might be the Ghost.

    Who was never there.

    Who never had a care.

    For that tiny aching hole.

Left inside a young child's soul.

Bravo! If your writing can touch my heart like this at such a tender age, I know you will grow into a poetic genius. Thank you for sharing.

better to live and learn in the active state rather than give up and regret the chance you had here and now. Go to school and never stop. All the pain you feel now is a mere spot on the fabric of the whole that you long for. The fact that you are going through pain now will help you to help others. We all go through pain learn from it and hold your head up high.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
