The Last Day Of Christmas (Disposable)

The table, where  I laid my dreams
Strewn with paper follies
Tattered Christmas crackers
Spilling forth their thrift shop jollies

Disposable as didn't call
Didn't stay, to face the day
Didn't love me after all
Didn't have a hand to play

The tree Once hung with crystal  hope
Bedraggled now , of lights bereft
No colorful kaleidoscope
Just paling paper pretties left

Disposable as didn't call
Didn't stay, to face the day
Didn't love me after all
Didn't have a hand to play

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
