The Way I Use To Be

The way I use to be is a greater man than now.
For I use to be real happy, now all I am is a clown.

Inside, and out I put on this real big show.
To show all who and what I am, but there is no external glow.

Fake laughter, fake smile, fake everything I do.
I look at myself in the mirror, and ask what has become of you.

I take a look at old pictures, and ask myself what I see.
Is that I use to be a great person, and thats the way I use to be.

This piece leaves me wanting more. I would have loved it to be longer and more descriptive. Nice work, though.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
