This is What I Believe

This is What I Believe

Why do I believe in a dying world that I sadly call my home?

How can I let all this destruction take place on this earth that I roam?

I’m not a part of this world’s demise to erase a faith based nation

Mistakes and failures fall upon my path but I’ll make a declaration

To never give up on what I believe inside this lost world of sorrow

Tears flood my hopeful eyes that await the dawning of tomorrow

I may have been born into a world of lies but I know what is real

I raise my hands in adoration to the sweet love that I can feel

Though I’m judged by people around me I know I have a choice

I won’t back down to attacks on my faith cause I hear God’s voice

I must stand tall with open hands ready to receive this gift of love

That can only come from God himself that he pours down from above

I can no longer shelter the truth that’s contained deep inside my soul

I will embrace the healing power that strengthens and makes me whole

You’ve painted a picture of grace that I capture inside my babies eyes

I’ve learned to trust your humbling words and understand the eternal prize

For I’m supplied with all I need to endure this long and painful fight

You gave me a second chance when I fell away from your piercing light

I’m a broken vessel that’s bleeding in agony from past mistakes I made

I want to start my life again and erase the pain because I long to trade

My old life that was filled with sin and guilt that rots away the beauty

Lord reform me into a new creation and let me fulfill a spiritual duty

Because emptiness is all I know when I leave your love that embraces

Break my will so I will follow and take my testimony to different places

I’ll watch you here from the ground as my new faith starts to grow

I know that you will keep me strong and won’t ever let me go

I could have given up on everything during all my times of strife

But my faith in You pulled me together so I could carry out my life

As my serene eyes found the light of Christ one day in my youth

Now I dance with the joy of salvation that has me dying for the truth

Never let go of faith, the last two lines really speak to me, we should all seek after the truth. God bless bro

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
