Poem Commentary

just sitting around and recalling some of the good times I had with my dad

Thoughts from a young age

Thoughts from a young age

When I recall as a little boy

The stories my father told to me

Brought me such great joy

They made me laugh and giggle on the inside

Stories of frogs, and dogs and cats

Why he even read to me “The cat in the hat”

Stories of fantasy and a little bit of truth

Just memories now, with very little proof

The stories that I read now are forever true

About David and Goliath, even about Elisha too

The stories I have read are infallible for sure

Because God had them written, His word is the cure

For old wives fables and watered down word

Will never help anyone, nor do him or her any good

Nevertheless, belief in the truth, knowing there is proof

Will help us from falling prey to any little spoof

These that know and have heard these words

Unknown to the speaker, but they interpret them which to our ears is very good

The words  that we hear exhort us and comfort us too

That’s what these words will be for me and for you

Never fear nor worry that they will lead you astray

Because they are not given for guidance to use throughout the day

They are words from God our Father just for those present there

Hearing words from a Father who truly for each of us does surely care

So gather yourself up and find a place

Where Gods word is taught, and you are able to read it right in front of your face

For you can read right along and believe for yourself

Get set free and come off of the pawn shop shelf

Walk with power, and live in grace

For it will surely show upon your face

Therefore, read the stories and see the deliverance that was done

Claim him as your Lord, deep in your heart, yes claim him who is Gods only begotten Son

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
