Poem Commentary

Another old one I've decided to revive.

Treasure

I spend my days searching for treasure.
Though it shines, it's neither silver nor gold.
To obatain it, means a lifetime of pleasure.
Though it cannot be bought or sold.
This treasure can never be owned.
Only loved and admired through time.
This treasure can become your downfall.
Or the reason for your rhyme.
People have died for this treasure.
People have killed for it too.
Do you know what it is that I speak of?
Are you searching for it too?
I spend my days searching for treasure.
Though it shines, it's neither silver nor gold.
To obatain it, means a lifetime of pleasure.
Though it cannot be bought or sold.
This treasure can never be owned.
Only loved and admired through time.
This treasure can become your downfall.
Or the reason for your rhyme.
People have died for this treasure.
People have killed for it too.
Do you know what it is that I speak of?
Are you searching for it too?

So many people look and never find it , but the treasure is you.. well written, keep it up

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
