When we catch our breath –
Bustle in our lives creates white noise that rarely clears long enough for us to hear the breathing of the person who brought us here. It’s a siren that deafens us all to each other and gets louder as time goes on. Makes us stand at arms the instinctive reaction to its alarm.
The bright light of life keeps us blind to the little things. If most of us could see past the light I’m sure we’d come to find our other half more often on our mind.
Coarse grains of life rub our senses raw to the touch. So much in fact that we callous and don’t feel the love of each other anymore. Being touched is so risky that we surrender our ability to feel tender.
So we’re on our toes and when looking around we see right through the partner to whom we’re bound. The assault is relentless and the biggest crime against our lives. Those things that contrive this way should be shot on site and broomed away.
But when we catch our breath we can only hope that we do it together. Because the biggest horror is when the other is still drowning and can’t hear your plea to let them love you the way they know that you need.
If we’re lucky enough we’ll catch our breath together and see from time to time that we love each other still. If it ever meant at all what we thought it did then we will.
