WHEN YOU LEFT
When you left
When you left
It felt like sudden death,
Cold like ice
I could hardly rise
As bright as the day
The sun had no ray
As dark as the night
Your presence caused no fright
Tossed in the wind
Almost like a wind-mill
Trying to understand why dudes like you
Are so few
It led me to the woods
Where I was almost eaten by fools
It left me in tears long and bitter
Could fill any pitcher
Loud were the cries
Didn’t matter the spies
As I comfort myself
With the comfort from thyself
Will I see you again?
I can’t bear the wrenching pain
Even to cross the ocean or take the plane
I will have to beat the rain
For waiting in vain
Will not avail
And so when we meet
We will greet and cheat
With love and kisses
And our many wishes
Will blend with laughter
Like the happy psalmster.
When you left
It felt like sudden death,
Cold like ice
I could hardly rise
As bright as the day
The sun had no ray
As dark as the night
Your presence caused no fright
Tossed in the wind
Almost like a wind-mill
Trying to understand why dudes like you
Are so few
It led me to the woods
Where I was almost eaten by fools
It left me in tears long and bitter
Could fill any pitcher
Loud were the cries
Didn’t matter the spies
As I comfort myself
With the comfort from thyself
Will I see you again?
I can’t bear the wrenching pain
Even to cross the ocean or take the plane
I will have to beat the rain
For waiting in vain
Will not avail
And so when we meet
We will greet and cheat
With love and kisses
And our many wishes
Will blend with laughter
Like the happy psalmster.
