Why a Caged Bird Sings
If you want to know why, a caged birds sings,
spend, a few hours, in it's cage.
You'll understand, it can't, spread it's wings,
just like you, can't use, your legs.
Those tunes, it sings, are not glee.
On contrare, they are cries, for help.
If you want, to think, they're hap-py,
let them cage YOU; and think it's happy, as you yelp.
Oh yes, I know, incarceration,
for a crime, I did not, commit.
Not one day, was there any, elation.
Only time, from my life, was omit.
Give it some thought, from your mind, and heart:
All summers, falls-winters and springs.
I guarantee, it will be, the start,
of knowing why, a caged, bird sings.
