    35 Years

35 years in the home of sorrow
    35 years together

    What started this crazy love?
    What kept them there
    for what seemed like forever?

    Never a kiss
    Never a hug
    Never a cuddle
    Or a word of love

Why after all these years did they stay?

Why did they stay in that house?
The house that was filled with colors of plain gray

    Shouting and screaming

    Hurtful words

    Crying kids
    Scared pups

    It seemed absurd

What kept them in that house together?
Why did they stay so long?

    35 years later
    Now you say
    I don’t think I love you
    I’m not going to stay

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
