    A Friend

    When your back's against the wall
    it's hard to make believe.
    That you're something that you've never been;
    or what you'd hope to be.
    But I dream on and wander through
    the beginning to the end;
    'Cause I know at the end of that long road;
    I'll find you there; a friend.

    People dream against the world
    and store their treasures gold.
    But when the've counted their hidden wealth
    there's nothing left to hold.
    I know I'll never have this wealth
    or money enough to lend.
    You are the riches of my life;
    in you, I've found a friend.

    Friends are like the clover four;
    the're always hard to find.
    For when you think you've found that one;
    they never have the time.
    You're always there when times are bad
    to pick me up again.
    In you I've found a dream come true;
    in you, I've found a friend

    When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
