A-G-A-P-E

A-G-A-P-E- They call me Greek,

A-G-A-P-E- They call me Hebrew

But I am the rain

Showering down

pelting the lost and the sweet

I am the trickling baptism in your hair

I am  the tiny drops that leak from the eyes of God

I am the swim in the heart of the weak

when they kneel below their heart’s strength

Quenching the lonely thirst

Flooding the endless night

A-G-A-P-E They call me Greek

A-G-A-P-E They call me Hebrew

A-G-A-P-E Call me I AM

A great write about a sublime concept- the character of the love of God. Linguisitcally, of course, agape is Greek. Historically, we know of it first through the life of the Hebrew, Jesus of Nazareth. either is is the I AM, or the greatest fraud of human history. I really appreciated this effort, well executed.

Correction: Either He is the great I AM ...

thank you

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
