A Girl Shot In The Snow

Can’t I just lie here against the cold?
Feels great against my skin, can’t even feel my soul.
Something is telling me to try to get up.
Whiteness surrounds me, but the shadows stand up.
    Icicles brush my lashes,
    Frost, bites my cheeks.
    The cold that defies me,
    Protects my wounds to seep.
    How did this happen?
    Where did life go wrong?
    Could I have prevented it?
    Was this destined all along?
    Befriended an enemy,
    Hidden behind enemy lines.
    Why can’t I have a magic remote,
    to just rewind the time.
Though I can dream of things to see,
For today I see right now.
Start with my knees, to stand on my feet.
With spirit and faith, I will make it somehow.
