A lesson learned the hard way

You gave me a vision of what life's to be
You showed me the world what i was to see
You promised me love said you'd always be there
To lend me a hand to show me you care
I went thru the days never rushing my steps
I cherished our time for the time was well spent

Then one day I thought of you and sighed a bitter sigh
the long awaited sadness pierced my heart and then i cried i cried for all the empty dreams that people have these days
I cried because I had a dream and then it slipped away
I cried because a love like ours was always meant to last
throughout eternity the present ,the future, the past
And although I wouldn't have changed it in my heart I know its true a lesson learned the hard way was the price of loving you

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
