    A Miracle

I used to cry daily; “Lord I need a miracle”.

A miracle that will make me a miracle…

Wondering through the deepest of valleys and the highest of mountains; searching through the smallest of holes, breaking through the thickest of walls and digging the largest of pits

I have been in search of this miracle!!!

I found out that I am already a miracle but never complete until I find this miracle.

In my going in and my coming out,

I told people that I needed a miracle.

One said, “Just enter the bus, and I will pay for all the expenses.” Another said, “I have the perfect beauty.” Another also said, “I have two tickets.”

But all did not match up with the miracle that I searched for!!!

So I prayed once more; “Lord I need a miracle.”

What miracle was I looking for?

A miracle that I can speak to and listen to

A simple but well packaged miracle; with an understanding heart, the ability to choose right, with an unfailing passion and a zeal that is alive.

A miracle that gives me an uncommon focus

And reminds me not to repeat my mistakes.

When I found you, I realized that you were more than what I prayed for.

With uncommon beauty, a smile that could break your heart and bring the pieces back together

You took a place in my life that no one else could take; Ignited a fire that burns off failure, remind me of how it is like to be right again, and joined hands with me to go on this journey of faith.

You carry a compassion that gives the homeless a place to take a nap.

A love that brings healing to the bedridden and puts food in the mouth of the hungry.

My miracle was not far away; I had walked by you, sat with you and spoke with you several times…

But never knew that you were the one.

Until God showed me that I was searching the wrong places.

You are the miracle that has changed me positively and shaped my focus.

Julie, you are the miracle that I have been searching for.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
