    A New Morning

    Morning’s cold blue
    Creeps through shades
    Dulled spoon crusts
    Ben and Jerry’s
    barren vase
    dust buries
    his black shoes
    missing
    my polished shoes
    his scuffs

    “Obsession”
    Tickles my nose
    last birthday gift
    He accepted
    With an eye roll.
    As some blond waif
    pushes out
    some surgeon’s
    plastic artwork
    Compliments
    My cologne

    New skirt flies up,
    blossoms
    Magical hand flick,
    My skirt bloomed open
    just for him
    Twirled out
    Colors melding
    My hand reaches
    For his…

    stranger’s bed
    Awake
    returned home.
    Beer bottles clink
    New photo-album
    gathers dust.
    Stranger’s fresh bruises
    Didn’t sleep alone last night
Slept with his back to me
Warm tears stroke my eyes closed
    Loneliness ebbs

    New morning comes

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
