    A place far away

In the treasury of my memories, there is one of long ago, a far piece from here. Where?  I may never know.

There were two suns in the daytime sky, and while I was there, I loved to fly.
Soaring with eagles, riding thermals on high, above the towering mountains, in a crystalline sky.

I have wondered if it was primordial earth, or somewhere else, in another universe. The air was scented with a fragrance so pure, no sickness or filth existed here.

The forests were indescribable, the trees were close to the sky, they spoke as humans and gave sound advice. I often sat beneath one of these blue giants and paid close attention to his rare spate of words. He said I seemed as one with the birds.

One of my dreams as a little girl was to fly with the birds to the top of the world. Was this place only the dream of a sad little girl?

Over the years, I recalled times spent there, and gloried in the memory of the winds in my hair.

Time passed and recall seemed gone. I felt so sad, like I was lost.
Then. one night, when I was in a deep sleep. I found myself in this magical land, so sweet
I flew until I felt the need for rest, landed beneath my tree and went to sleep

When I awakened, I was home, in my bed. I cried for what I thought was only a dream, until I saw on my sheet, a giant blue leaf.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
