Poem Commentary

based on the Novel "Night"

A Silent Night

Night seemed endless
Silence fell again

Look at the flames, flames everywhere
Cries of distress hurled into the wind
In nights terror we gave thanks to God

Morning Disappeared
At night we slept
We stared at the flames in darkness

I tore at decaying flesh
There were no cries
A silent death
