    Aftermath

How many times we shoot words
to the hearts closest to us …
How many times we pour abuse on
the most humble ones at hard times…

And we save our love and sweetness
And we save gesture and gratefulness
    But time implacable
Send to us a day black and inauspicious –
That day someone is gone away
    Taking his eternal path…
    To be excused is
    too late…
In guilty fire our hearts are burning up.

And how simple is to be
    Right now generous and nice…
After our last breath could we
    purified to be born again!

first stanza is perfect. keep it up.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
