    Agape for the World

    Our faith and trust,
Is not one of adultered lust,
Nor is it one of affectionate desires,
But fueled by our heart of fires.

    Agape is more than love,
It rises to our hearts above,
It is the fellowship of brothers and sisters,
United despite all pain and blisters.

I know what love is not, that’s true
But I ask for what is love?
I call love out to my love, my dear,
Neither an idolatry of the soul,
Nor the touching of the heart.

Oh what lament when love is broken!
But agape is not that love!
Agape is not love of your family of blood,
Nor your desires for someone else,

Nor is Agape the idolized love,
That you would show a “god,”
    Agape is nothing,
    But a sacrificial love.

It is the love of a Christian,
    The trust of Jesus Christ,
It is the heartbreak of pain when one fellow leaves another out of pain,
It is the willingness to sacrifice life and death for one.

    Agape is trust,
    Its meaning is so perfect,
    Agape is love,
    Its definition so pure,
Agape is simply beyond the extent of humanity’s lifetime,
And Agape is the deepest feeling to the heart.

    For agape is always love,
It is love, but love is not always agape,
For love can mean “adultery” or “lust” or “desire,”
But a true love cannot mean anything, but true love,
No false form of love is agape,
Agape is not family love either,
    Agape is what it is,
    A true brotherhood or sisterhood,
    Of loving people.

Wow, I like this one. Very good.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
