All That I Am

    All That I Am

Finally I welcome the day I’ve long feared
The day when thru the cloud the sun shines clear
Can’t write a song that has no lyrics
Can’t make a beat when there’s no one to hear it
Never thought the story would end for you and me
But our plot has lost its spark and lacks sensual energy
It’s time to face this inevitable change
I guess it’s safe to say that my love still remains
My best friend until I breathe no more you are
The twinkle in my stubbornly fragile star
You’ve become a part of me that can’t be detached
I doubt that you know, but I welcome that
So I’m sorry if this hurts you, I didn’t want to
Not your fault, nor is it mine boo
Can’t blame the man and you can’t blame my crew
It is what it is and I gotta be true
To myself, to that I must abide
And grab on tight, prepare for what’s next on this ride
Sure it’ll be bumpy and I’m sure I’ll shed many tears
But I’ve done this before; I’ve grown through the years
So I can’t say that this dismay
Will influence me to let you stay
But I can state that it’s been great
Although I can’t continue to wait
The world is calling me and I must seek
A level of growth that with you won’t be
So until the sun and moon find a path to each other
I must separate our souls and press on a lil further.
Don’t be discouraged, don’t hate me please
For I could never turn my back on what you made me
You were there for me and I for you
Still and all it’s done and there nothing left to refute
Nothing can save us from this fate
There’s a woman in me that needs to create
    A new stride
    A new life
    A new smile, new style
So kindly step to the side and watch me for a while
    You’ll be proud - I guarantee
For all that I am, you’ve taught me to be.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
