Ambush

My deadly love
inject your poison
silky, smooth as a viper
Merciless with my heart
devastating with your strikes
And, I believed you
you know how I wanted to...
believe that you could love me
So, I made my reflection lurid;
long legs, slight hips,
curving breast, pouting lips...
distorted by bliss
Then, I yearned for redemption -
with-held by a twisted desire
to hold you close
And, I choke on a vacant soul

Short with provocative message and meaning in the words about souls and the quality of them. Well written.

I think your poem is cool, quite motivating actually!

Hi Loke, I looked back on this piece after reading your comment, and the only thing I can find motivational is that yearning for redemption. I have days though, when I wonder if it is even possible for any of us to trully be redeemed. As I told Ginga, I actually wrote this piece many years ago; and, I have outgrown much of the childish thoughts of a girl (I hope). Though I like to keep myself up, I don't find the need to use my looks as a tool any more. Funny thing is, all these years later my deadly love has come to be my one true love & he tells me I'm beautiful on days I am most plain in my own opinion. Peace be with you...

dragon, "and I choke on a vacant soul" does it for me. Such a punchline so to speak that ends a mesmerizing poem. ginga

HI Ginga, there is an empty feeling that comes from going after a person who has demons, but love isn't logical. Love does have the power to heal deep wounds though. My fiance Michael and I are about to celebrate seventeen years of loving and laughing. Michael just celebrated 15 years clean too. I wrote this piece many years ago.
