Bitter Sweet

Bitter Sweet

Rose with swirls of orange and yellow,

Show me the beauty within your essence.

Waves of golden specks of sun

Dance among streams of honeyed purple clouds

And brings upon you a new existence.

Rose with curvaceous petals of velveteen,

The soft whisper of your scent

Blends with Springs graceful breeze

Soaring across fields of tranquility

Caressing dawns early mist.

Rose with ginger color filled heart,

Eliminated from your sanctuary

Imprisoned by a radiant red ribbon

Symbolizing devotion and worship

Bright eyes you will bring.

Rose with a bough of jagged thorns,

Pain you will bestow

Devouring the purity of your innocence

And the sun will no longer rape

Your vibrant leaves of green.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
