Blessed With Grace

As I gaze off into your soft eyes

I pray for no permanent goodbyes

I knew you had a kind and loving heart

Chatting with you now and from the start

For meeting you today has made me whole

I know that you will mend this weary soul

You told me you are afraid if I write a poem

I tell you that I would like you in my home

You have reached in and touched my heart

Hold it softly so it will not crumble an fall apart

I am asking you if you want to repair it for me

My heart is yours for as long as you want it to be

For meeting you today has made me whole

I knew you had a kind and loving heart

I know that you will mend this weary soul

Chatting with you now and from the start

I feel that you are a God send from my father above

I know your heart is kind and filled with love

I pray that you will want to stay in my life

For I even dream of the day you might be my wife

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
