brick wall girl
A little child naïve, wondering what’s going on
A little girl lost, singing a sad song
A game of tug-o-war, this is her real life
So young to be feeling the pain of grief and strife
The yelling and the cursing, the spitting in the face
Early signs of hatred anger and disgrace
Tears soak the pillow, every night they occur
No one seems to notice, no one can comfort her
She learns to hide her feelings, shield them from the world
She becomes a tough cookie, no longer a little girl
What could seem to cause this, to make this girl so sad
The separation of two people, her beloved mom and dad
