    Bridge of Love

Somewhere in this world there is a bridge that trembles from the fierce winds of a midday storm.  Shaking the very foundation in which she stands.  Setting fear in her existence that has been inevitable to end from the time man made plans for her design.  I can see the men praying that their bridge will not fall, that she will hold true to their labor.  On bended knee they pray aloud.  Hoping against hope their words will reach past the dark clouds to the waiting ear of heaven.  Like the sparrow wearily fighting her way through the strong gusts of a hurricane, their words remain hidden among the crashing winds, their yells mere whispers.  Yet still, they pray.  Unknown to them, through their feeble cries, is that the storm is not the force they should be praying against.  It is the test of time that will prove to be her truest foe.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
