    But a Shadow

To me I am but a shadow
Standing in the background never changing
Waiting for my time to go by
    A form of shapless emotions
But I am but a shadow
    Of outstanding character as well

For I am not but a shadow
    Just standing in the background
For I am more than that
But instead I am the shadows self
    I make the shadow
What it is today as a heart

I have been like a shadow
In the back of the crowd doing my thing
I am also like a shadow
As a follower of others when need be
I am a shadow when it comes to
Acting out accordingly the way that I need to be

But I must say this one thing
    Unlike a shadow,
I have the spirit just like a
    Great and powerful warrior
With the heart of a lion and
    The sincerity of a king

well written a portrayal of someone who tends to stay in the background not causing conflict or being noticed. Some days we all wish to be that shadow.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
