Chained by Emotions

“And my lament is cries countless, cries like dead letters sent to dearest him that leaves alas! Away.” Gerard Manley Hopkins

This small flame, this hindrance light. At one
Time very far away it was bright.
Then the care taker left; the flame burned
Everything down until there was nothing
Left in sight. now everything is in gone,
Ashes even and yet the flame is here.

This flame I hold in my hands is small, weak
I cried to the caretaker to put it
Out. the cries countless, cries like dead letter sent
To a beloved that was never read,
But refused. The caretaker refused, as
If to keep me blind to this tiny flame

Caretaker blow out this tiny flame so,
I can again be freed to the darkness.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
