Chaos Fades to Serenity

Chaos Fades to Serenity

Waiting by the fire as it starts to fade
Blackness taking over this fit of rage
Warmth all over seems to be slowing me down
Diving head first into this new life I’ve found

Total darkness washes over my eyes
Can’t see anything of my corrupted life
Slowly the black turns to bright lights
And I know ‘m ready to get this right

Step out of the water, take my first breath
Air fills my lungs and my heart starts to rest
Body and mind are slowly becoming whole
My life was total chaos, but I now have control

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
