Compromize

It's taken a week but the drugs I've tried
have finally helped me reach that high
that I've been chasing for a while
pushing the envelope just to smile
compromising for the sake of miles
in this drug induced denial.
Perpetually I move to avoid being idle
and silence the voices that get too wild,
hinting at things despicably vile,
making me see through a shimmering sea distorted by pyrokinetic fire,
forcing me into these carnal desires,
searching for substances that will get me higher,
to make these distractions a little bit quieter
by this self-medication I've illegaly acquired.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
