    Corruption

I heard that war broke out today
    About seven-hundred have died
And yesterday fifteen people were killed
So about two thousand have cried

I hear a rapist is somewhere in town
    'Gotten three people already
Two of them were actually just found dead
And one of them made it, but barely

Oh yea and in some middle school
A boy brought a gun and a knife
And just decided in his five minute break
    To take another boy's life

And because a girl decided to drink
A husband didn't get home at five
Did she know she'd destroy a family forever?
Did he know it was his last day alive?

A week ago a gang broke loose
And killed a poor, homeless man
Took the only rags he had
And bread he found in the trashcan

And someone in the world today
    Tattooed a triple six
And said he did it for his cult
Who is run by a hundred gothics

About fifty percent of all the world
    Curses a million times
    Not forgetting the other fifty
Who commit a million other crimes

And I can't help but ask myself
Is this what You died for?
Cause, even I, am filled with disgust
But still You let Your blood pour

You gave Your only Son to die
    Which none of us deserve
You promise to keep us safe in Your hands
And our spiritual life to preserve

And though so many push You away
And fall in a horrible mess
There you are to catch us again
Cause You never love us less

All of these humans are so corrupt
And I know I fall under that list
And though people shut the door of their heart
    You never cease to insist

And still I make a bigger deal
If ever I've been hurt or used
When You were nailed up on a cross
When You were beaten and bruised

So when I get in a selfish act
And can't find the heart to forgive
I will remember that I am the reason You died
And that You are the reason I live

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
