The Reality of Mankind

The Reality of Mankind

Where is gravity now
Somehow it can't be found
And I'm floating up so high
When I need to hit the ground

I must wake up from this senseless dream
Where I believe the world is my friend
Where I believe, somehow, I will be understood
When I should know no one will never comprehend

The people here are robots
They act upon what others do
They have no voice, no thought, or decisions
I can't believe I never knew

I thought deep down they all had feelings
That they were selfless and sincerely kind
But they removed the masks that made them pleasant
And I removed the one that made me blind

I woke up smelling roses
Like a child so young and naive
And though I saw violence around me
My heart didn't want to believe

I thought the world was beautiful
With oceans that sparkle like glitter
All because my eyes never wanted to see
The reality that is so bitter

But I finally woke up now
And can say I finally see
That everyone that walks around me
Is what I will never strive to be

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
